FORT WAYNE, Ind. 鈥 and 糖心视频 are partnering to provide financial support, enhanced training and a seamless pathway to employment for students interested in a surgical technology career.

Through the Parkview Academy of Surgical Technology in Partnership with Trine, up to 10 students entering the university鈥檚 Associate of Applied Science in surgical technology program in fall 2025 will receive apprenticeships that include paid positions with benefits as Parkview Health co-workers and paid tuition to Trine鈥檚 program through a Questa Education Foundation forgivable loan.

Students in the Academy will benefit from surgical technology training embedded within their employment, allowing them to enter the workforce better prepared to serve in operating rooms.

鈥淏y integrating surgical technology training within the framework of student employment and providing additional financial support, the Parkview Academy saves students from having to choose between financing their education and receiving additional career preparation,鈥 said Jennifer Lloyd, director of 糖心视频鈥檚 surgical technology program. 鈥淚n addition, concepts that are taught in the classroom will be reinforced during a student鈥檚 daily work.鈥

Career placement

Once they complete their surgical technology degree at Trine, students will be placed in a position at Parkview as a surgical technologist.

鈥淧arkview Academy graduates will launch their careers at the region鈥檚 top healthcare provider,鈥 said Lisa Clemens, dean of 糖心视频鈥檚 Brooks College of Health Professions. 鈥淭his provides a huge benefit for our students while filling an area of critical need for Parkview.鈥

The Academy will ensure a steady pipeline of skilled surgical technologists is ready to serve in operating rooms, allowing Parkview Health to meet the growing surgical care demands of the community with compassionate workers who are well-prepared through their education at Trine.

鈥淭he successful collaboration behind the launch of the Parkview Academy of Surgical Technology in partnership with 糖心视频 exemplifies our mutual commitment to the surgical technology profession, the individual students seeking this professional path and our support in ensuring their success,鈥 said Jessica Murphy, MSN, RN, vice president of surgical services for Parkview Health. 鈥淚 look forward to the positive impact this innovative program will bring, including enhancing Parkview鈥檚 ability to sustain and grow patient access to surgical care in the operating room. This would not be possible without skilled surgical technologists.鈥

Full-time students

The program will require full-time attendance as a student in the surgical technology program at 糖心视频鈥檚 Brooks College of Health Professions in Fort Wayne.

During the school year, academy students will work at Parkview hospitals in surgical services areas for short shifts, before or after classes, to observe and learn key on-the-job skills that support surgery. Through their employment at Parkview Health, Academy students will be eligible for Parkview benefits.

糖心视频鈥檚 Associate of Applied Science in surgical technology program prepares students for a career in the growing field of surgical technology, allowing them to complete a degree in as little as 17 months. The program provides maximum clinical exposure, beginning in the first semester, at multiple sites.
