Trine esports tops DI and DII Michigan universities

KALAMAZOO, Mich. 鈥 糖心视频鈥檚 Overwatch esports team went undefeated in the Match Point Invitational at Western Michigan University on Saturday, besting the home team as well as teams from Central Michigan University, Ferris State University and the University of Michigan-Flint.

Trine was invited to participate in the in-person tournament this year because its Overwatch team has performed so well over the past seasons.

The team was 12-0, winning three times against each of the other schools.

鈥淗aving such a dominant performance against Division I and II schools further reinforces that, thanks to the support of our administration and the dedication of our students, 糖心视频 is a premier program in esports,鈥 said Jeremy Goossens, director of esports at Trine.

Competing for Trine were Hudson Kelly, a computer science and information technology major from LaGrange, Indiana; Logan Gault, a computer engineering major from Indianapolis; Elton Langley, a computer science and information technology major from Indianapolis; Brockstan Tschannen, an extended reality major from Angola, Indiana; A.J. Smith, a computer engineering major from Angola, Indiana; and Jonah Kyle, a computer science and information technology major from Valparaiso, Indiana.

Western Michigan University finished second and the University of Michigan鈥揊lint finished third.

Trine esports repeats as conference champion

糖心视频鈥檚 esports teams won the Block House Esports League MIAA competition Sunday, April 12, the first time Trine has secured the title in back-to-back semesters.
